Is it possible that humans are the offspring of the Anunnaki, an ancient astronaut traveler, from the planet Nibiru? Zachariah Sitchin thought so. Does the planet Nibiru exist? Where is it now? Is it returning? Is the government covering this up? Let’s take a look at one of the wildest creation myths on the market and see if we can find out if humans are the offspring of an ancient interplanetary race of gods and if these gods are returning.
One belief that runs common among the religions of the world, and throughout prophecy, is a belief that planetary and solar system alignments, as well as their orbits, play an important role and are connected to what happens here on earth. One might call this sacred cosmology, and this may include beliefs on our origins in the form of creation myths, subsequent evolution, current organizational form and nature, and eventual fate or destiny of the earth and its inhabitants.
Traditions vary among the different religious mythologies but they all attempt to explain how and why everything is the way it is and the overall significance of it all. Offering insights into how it began, explanations of the transformation of chaos into order, or the assertion that existence is a matter of endless cyclical transformations. Religious mythologies may also include descriptions of an act or process of creation by a creator deity, or a larger pantheon of deities. Deities that are perhaps interplanetary in nature.
The Babylonians and Sumerians held great beliefs in the study of celestial objects. They believed the planets could predict events on earth. Their beliefs are perhaps the most interesting as they offer insight into a unique human origin story that suggests that we, humans, maybe the seeds of interplanetary travelers and even talks about a planet in our own solar system that may be their home.
In 1976, Zachariah Sitchin translated ancient Sumerian texts which he published in a book called “Twelfth Planet.” These writings were Sumerian and he believed they contained the story of our true human origins. What was so intriguing about this story is that it stated that the first humans were the offspring of ancient astronauts originating from a planet in our solar system called Nibiru. Inhabited by interplanetary travelers from an ancient race called the Anunnaki a word meaning those who from heaven to earth come. The Sumerians believed in 12 heavenly bodies the current nine, including Pluto, the moon, the sun, and Nibiru.
According to Sitchin, thousands of years ago, the Anunnaki came to earth searching for gold to help repair their planet’s atmosphere which was deteriorating. Discovering gold on earth they began mining this rare mineral. The working conditions were hard and the Igigi or the servants to the Anunnaki gods mutinied over their dissatisfaction.
According to Sitchin, Enki (the Sumerian god of water and human culture) suggested that to relieve the Igigi that primitive workers (Homo sapiens) be created by genetic engineering to work as slaves and replace the Igigi the gold mines. This was to be done by crossing extraterrestrial genes with those of Homo erectus.
After humans were created Sitchin’s translations state that the human civilization of Sumer, Mesopotamia, was set up under the guidance of these “gods”, and human kingship was inaugurated to provide intermediaries between mankind and the Anunnaki effectively creating the “divine right of kings” doctrine. They, the Anunnaki, then taught the ancient people of earth about the cosmos.
Sitchin says that his research coincides with many biblical texts, and that biblical texts come originally from Sumerian writings. That is why many of the characters in the tablets have similar stories to that of the Bible. With An, Enki, and Enil in the Sumerian texts and Anu, Ea, and Marduk in the Babylonian texts playing roles equivalent to El, Lucifer, and Jehovah in the Hebrew Bible. Several of the Anunnaki stories also include figures similar to Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel, Noah, David, and Bathsheba.
Interestingly both the Sumerian and Babylonian texts refer to a Goddess Mother named Ki, which is something missing from the Hebrew texts. Something else interesting is the plurality of the Gods involved. This does appear in all texts.
Genesis 1:26 – And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea…
Genesis 3:22 – Then the Lord God said, ‘Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever.
Genesis 11:7 – Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
Some may call this system polytheism, but in truth, the Sumerians, Babylonians, and the Mesopotamians, in general, believed in a heavenly hierarchy, a system of worship[ called monolarity, where even among many gods only the Supreme God was worthy of worship.
What else do the texts contain?
In total there are 14 Tablets of Lord Enki, too many to share here, but if you’re interested an overview can be found here:
And if you’re interested in a video adaption check out ANUNNAKI – Mensageiros do Vento on YouTube. You’ll have to read subtitles because it’s in Portuguese I believe, but the rock opera vibe and animation make it totally worth it.
According to Sitchin, the earth was created when Nibiru collided catastrophically with Tiamat. This collision supposedly formed the planet Earth, the asteroid belt, and the comets. Sitchin states that when struck by one of planet Nibiru’s moons, Tiamat split in two, and then on a second pass Nibiru itself struck the broken fragments and one half of Tiamat became the asteroid belt. The second half, struck again by one of Nibiru’s moons, was pushed into a new orbit and became today’s planet Earth.
So you may be asking yourself where Nibiru and the Anunnaki are at now? Well, the answer is deep in space on a 3,600 year-long elliptical orbit around the sun. Proponents state that this puts it well out of our current view. The next question you should be asking is what happens when Nibiru’s cycle meets with earth again? In previous cycles, it is believed to have destroyed Mars’s atmosphere and even caused the great deluge here on earth. So, to doomsdayers, Nibirus return is a sure sign of calamity. Calamities such as the Antarctic ice caps melting and slipping into the ocean and the earth’s poles switching. There is also the possibility of one of Nibiru’s moons colliding with earth and causing devastation.
While Sitchin denies any connection between his work and various claims of a coming apocalypse. Others are not afraid to take it there. Fortunately, so far, every predicted appearance has been rescheduled or debunked. The last main one being 2012 and the end of the Mayan calendar.
Believers in Nibiru have given it many names since it was first proposed. All are, in fact, names for other real, hypothetical, or imaginary Solar System objects that bear little resemblance to the planet described by Sitchin.
It’s not hard to see why science and astronomers, therefore, reject the idea of Nibiru. They point out that such an object so close to Earth would be easily visible to the naked eye, and would create noticeable effects in the orbits of the outer planets. They are also quick to point out that proposed photographs purporting to show Nibiru beside the Sun are simply lens flares, false images of the Sun created by reflections within the lens, and tout claims that the object has been concealed behind the Sun as implausible.
David Morrison, NASA space scientist explains:
An orbit like that of Nibiru within our planetary system is inconsistent with celestial mechanics. After just one previous flyby of Earth, such as they claim happened in Sumerian times, Earth itself would no longer be in its current near-circular orbit and would be likely to have lost its Moon. If Nibiru were a brown dwarf it would have even worse effects, as brown dwarfs are far more massive. Since Pluto is now frequently observed by backyard telescopes, any giant planet beyond Pluto would be easily observed by an amateur astronomer, and if such an object existed in the Solar System, it would have passed through the inner Solar System a million times by now.
Astronomer Mike Brown notes that if this object’s orbit were as described, it would only have remained in the Solar System for about a million years before Jupiter expelled it, and, even if such a planet existed, its magnetic field wouldn’t have any effect on Earth’s and the assertions that the approach of Nibiru would cause the Earth’s rotation to stop or its axis to shift violate the laws of physics.
Of course, many believers in the imminent approach of Nibiru accuse NASA of deliberately covering up visual evidence of its existence.
One such accusation involves the IRAS infrared space observatory, launched in 1983. The satellite briefly made headlines due to an “unknown object” that was at first described as “possibly as large as the giant planet Jupiter and possibly so close to Earth that it would be part of this Solar System”. This newspaper article has been cited by proponents of the Nibiru cataclysm as evidence for the existence of Nibiru. However, further analysis revealed that of several initially unidentified objects, nine were distant galaxies and the tenth was “galactic cirrus”; none were found to be Solar System bodies.
If you are not familiar with that term galactic cirrus clouds are veils that surround our galaxy, that partially block and confuse our view into the great beyond.
Another accusation frequently made by websites predicting the collision is that the U.S. government built the South Pole Telescope (SPT) to track Nibiru’s trajectory and that the object has been imaged optically. However, the SPT, not funded by NASA, is a radio telescope, and cannot take optical images. Its South Pole location was chosen due to the low-humidity environment, and there is no way an approaching object could be seen only from the South Pole.
Another conspiracy claim regards a patch of missing data in Google Sky near the constellation of Orion, which has often been cited as evidence that Nibiru has been redacted. However, the same region of sky can still be viewed by thousands of amateur astronomers. A scientist at Google said that the missing data is due to a glitch in the stitching software used to piece the images together.
Did the Sumerians have some sort of ancient knowledge? Are our earthly forebearers ancient interplanetary travelers? Will the planet Nibiru someday return? Did Sitchin get it right, or as many have concluded very wrong? Are the governments of the world covering this all up? For now, the key to unlocking this discovery, the planet itself, is still missing. Perhaps someday this mystery will be solved but until then maybe we shouldn’t dismiss the idea that maybe the heavens hold important information to our origins.
