Paranormal Investigation 101: avoid these 7 novice mistakes

Do you want to investigate the paranormal, but are not sure where to start? Making a few common mistakes can be costly and even dangerous for novice ghost hunters. In this blog post, we will discuss seven of the most common mistakes made by those new to the field of paranormal investigation. Avoid these mistakes, and you’ll be on your way to a successful and safe investigation!

1. Not doing your research

One of the most common mistakes made by novice paranormal investigators is not doing their research. It is important to learn about the history of the location you will be investigating, as well as any reported paranormal activity. This will help you better understand what you may be dealing with, and help you narrow down your investigation to specific areas or hotspots.

2. Not having a plan

Another mistake often made by novice investigators is not having a plan. Your investigation should have a specific purpose and goals, and you should have a method for achieving those goals. Having a plan will help keep you focused and organized during your investigation, and will increase your chances of success.

3. Going in alone

Many novice investigators make the mistake of going into an investigation alone. This can be extremely dangerous, as you never know what you may encounter. It is always best to go on an investigation with at least one other person, so that you have someone to watch your back and help if anything goes wrong.

4. Not using proper equipment

Using the proper equipment is essential for any paranormal investigation. Without the right tools, you will not be able to properly document or communicate with any spirits you may come in contact with. Make sure you have a good camera, voice recorder, and EMF meter before heading out on your investigation.

5. Not knowing how to use your equipment

Just as important as having the right equipment is knowing how to use it. Make sure you understand how to operate all of your equipment before heading out on your investigation. Nothing will ruin an investigation faster than not being able to use your equipment properly.

6. Not respecting the spirits

Many novice investigators make the mistake of not respecting the spirits they are trying to communicate with. It is important to remember that these spirits are still people, and should be treated with respect. Be polite and respectful when communicating with them, and do not try to force them to do anything they do not want to do.

7. Not debriefing after an investigation

Debriefing after an investigation is just as important as debriefing before one. This is a time for you to go over what happened during your investigation, and to discuss any evidence you may have collected. It is also a time to debrief your team, so that everyone is on the same page and knows what to expect if you decide to investigate the same location again.

Avoiding these seven common mistakes will help you have a successful and safe paranormal investigation. Remember to do your research, have a plan, go with a partner, use proper equipment, know how to use your equipment, respect the spirits, and debrief after your investigation. If you can avoid these mistakes, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a successful paranormal investigator!
