A significant number of Americans believe that aliens from outer space are already living on Earth in disguise, according to a new survey conducted by Wealth of Geeks.
The poll of 1,000 Americans found that 37% think extraterrestrials have secretly integrated into human society, with many even suspecting their own bosses. Over half of respondents (53%) said they believe aliens exist.
“The results show that, when it comes to believing in extraterrestrial life, many Americans are open to the possibility,” said Michael Dinich, founder of WealthofGeeks.com which commissioned the research. “And it seems a sizable number of people have reason to question whether their boss may be of this planet or not.”
In the survey, 39% of participants said they feel their current supervisor could potentially be an undercover alien. Additionally, one-third have doubts that certain celebrities originated on Earth.
While more people believe in aliens than not, skepticism remains. 41% disagree that alien beings are living among us, and 22% remain undecided on the issue.
If alien contact were to occur, 43% of those polled trust that our current global leaders would appropriately represent planet Earth. However, 42% believe they have what it takes to secure peace with extraterrestrials if given the diplomat role.
The divide between believers and non-believers fell largely along gender lines in the survey. Men were slightly more inclined to think aliens exist, at 56% compared to 49% of women.
While the reality remains unknown, the American public clearly maintains an ongoing fascination with the possibility of alien neighbors from a galaxy far, far away.
