In a remarkable turn of events, 80-year-old Darshan Singh Brar of Haryana was revived after being declared dead by doctors. Brar, a heart patient, was on life support for 4 days at a Patiala hospital before doctors pronounced him deceased Thursday morning.
As Brar’s body was being transported home to his village near Karnal for last rites, the ambulance struck a pothole. His grandson noticed Brar’s hand move and found he still had a faint pulse. The ambulance rushed Brar to the nearest hospital, where incredulous doctors confirmed he was somehow still alive and breathing.
Brar has now been moved to a Karnal hospital in critical condition. Doctors say he is breathing on his own despite a serious chest infection.
In what the family hails as a miracle, relatives gathered to mourn Brar were instead able to celebrate his incredible survival. Just hours after accepting his death, their despair turned to hope that the 80-year-old may pull through after his close brush with death. Doctors remain cautious but say Brar continues to fight for his life against the odds.
