G.E. Kinkaid was a professional explorer and hunter. He is often cited online as being the first white baby born in Idaho, although there doesn't seem to be any confirmation on this. His career in exploration was well recognized however, and he had been in the employ of the Smithsonian Institute for nearly thirty years by the time of this expedition, collecting and sending in samples and artifacts throughout the US.
