Man finds bizarre alien coin in a roll of quarters
What initially seemed like an average quarter immediately piqued the interest of internet users after a Michigan man, Jordan (or as he is known on Reddit: u/albanesegummies327) posted his peculiar find on Reddit. After sifting through a roll of coins, Jordan believed that he may have just stumbled upon something much bigger than what was originally perceived – potentially even uncovering some sort of government conspiracy!
Jordan told Newsweek “I was inspecting a large bag of quarter rolls, opening them one by one to look for older pieces with high silver content. In one of the rolls, I was immediately startled by an odd coin featuring the bust of an extraterrestrial. It stood out in stark contrast to the bust of Washington present on the other coins.”
As expected, comments began to pour in when the post was shared. A Redditor remarked “Wow! This looks like it was crafted after ” hobo nickels.”

The term “hobo nickel” dates back to the early 1900s, when homeless folk would engrave their own unique designs onto coins. Nowadays, modern artists are still creating their very own versions of a hobo nickel with amazing results!

Other Redditors Commented that they wanted to see what was on the backside of the coin. Jordan replied, “The backside shows the date of the apocalypse, only those who own it can see it.”
Jordan proceeded to explain that he brought the alien coin to a nearby pawn shop. “He reassured me that Federal Reserve isn’t being run by aliens and that the coin is all that rare. He identified it as a hobo nickel, worth around $10 to $20 to collectors,” Jordan explained. “Although I was rather disappointed that I hadn’t stumbled across proof of a government conspiracy or something valuable, the truth is still out there,” Jordan said. “And I’ll continue to search coin rolls to find it.”
