A recent tourist visiting Loch Ness has reported an intriguing sighting of a 65-foot-long dark shape moving beneath the surface of the water. Etienne Camel, a pharmacist from Lyon, and his wife Eliane were capturing holiday photos near Invermoriston on the west side of the loch when they witnessed what is commonly referred to as the Loch Ness monster.
Etienne, a man of science, had never believed in the Loch Ness monster being a prehistoric creature. However, while taking a photograph, he noticed an unusually long shadow and immediately called his wife over to witness it as well. They observed the shadow moving for several minutes.

Initially considering the possibility of it being a cloud or a nearby boat, Etienne and Eliane quickly dismissed these explanations as there were no clouds in the sky, and no boats or reefs in close proximity. The presence of small waves suggested that something was causing movement in the water. The shadow they saw was estimated to be 15-20 meters long and approximately 150 meters away. Etienne admitted the experience was highly peculiar, and he had never encountered anything similar in the lakes near his hometown.
The legend of the Loch Ness monster, affectionately nicknamed “Nessie,” dates back to 1933 when Francesca McGarvey from Castlehead, Paisley, reported witnessing a dark shape emerge from the water. Subsequent sightings described the alleged creature as resembling a plesiosaur, an extinct species of marine reptile that lived over 65 million years ago.
